Most American schools offer a section of the USMLE Part 1 to their medical school studentsat the end of each course.

For example, you finish anatomy, then the medical school can ask NBME to give a partial USMLE Part 1 anatomy part for the students to take.

So they are trained to take the USMLE part by part and get ready for the final thrust at the end of 2nd year, 4th year and 1st year after residency. They take part of the exam first and finish all different sections and take the whole together later on.

So you know somewhat you need to know and also the practice questions DO NOT count any weight in their course.

Good luck

Even the American students fail. On average of 140-150 American students in a class, there is usually one-two student failed. But they usually let him or her to go on and take the exam later.

The failure rate among American students are 0.075%

I went to Vanderbilt/Meharry Combined Med School, Nashville, Tennesee, United States. (combined program)

Only 1 failed in my class of 140.

The failure rate of American Internal Medicine Board which I just took is 15% failure rate (This is the second time I took in 10 years) recertification

I am an IMG International student but for reasons I do not understand, they let me into American medical school knowing I came from Asia with a student visa.

I got in Northwestern University Med School in Chicago but chose Vanderbilt combined program.

I already took the USMLE I, II, III and Specialtry board, and took my 2nd re-certification after 10 years and try my luck to re-take the earlier exams to sharpen my skills. So many things changed

USA requires you to re-certifify every ten years, so what the heck, took the Board ten years ago and USMLE 20 years ago. At that time, they called it NBME Part 1, 2, 3. But now they add the Clinical Skills.

there was only one failed in my entire class in USMLE Part 1 but more failed in Part 2 and 3.

You are right, even different US medical schools are different.

State medical schools failure rate are much higher, the elite ones may be 1 or 2. the rich kids. When I first went there, I would not believe how rich the kids were. One girl invited the entire class to a country club for lunch before school started. So I believed some kids got into medical school because their rich paents gave millions to the school.

Private medical school failure rate is very very low.

believe me or not, they (the med school) will do everything to help you, provide you with residency spot and do everything to let you go to third year, fourth year and finish the MD degree.

Once you get in, we were ALL equal.

The failure rate of one US med school is o.075%, the other one almosts 9%.

State schools mean State-owned, State-run, Public medical schools.

Private medical schools mean St. Louis Univ., Chicago Unv., Harvard.

I took Kaplan and found it was very helpful.

It is very expensive. very expensive. It was US $1,100 in 1986-7, but in 2005-6, it costs US $1,500-2,700. (depends on what you took)

But I went to 6 or more review courses from Harvard, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, Atlanta Emory, LSU.

I found the LSU review courses is the best but the Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans.

I took the USMLE III at Atlanta and passed and ABIM Internal medicine board at the Superdome three weeks after the LSU Lousiana State University review course.

I took the 2nd recertification and now taking another exam.
