Hi all!! i have just given my step 2 ck.Can anyone please tell me that what percentage of qus to be solved in exam to get good percentile that is above 90 percentile. My exam was ok ,The paper was asusual tough n accordin to me the qus were out of kaplan ab 40%.I did both kaplan n usmle world online n scored above 70 % in both . The qus asked in medicine is not from a single system almost all the qus has multiple syatem involvement n there were lot of decision making qus on spot which u will face only in exam n no online will give u those situation. They also have asked pathogenesis on 4-5 qu which was quite ok.They have asked ab 25 qus with 26 option.
There was no time to think n so after exam i was clueless ab the type of qus.But qus r huge n time is damn less

2-digit score isn't percentile; see:

for the correlation between 2-digit score and the number of correctly answered questions, see:

Okay, I followed the link and landed on one post that posed an 'adaptive' query that was largely unanswered. Silly q, but surely...the usmle isn't adaptive....?

this question was answered - I'm quoting:

'Harder questions definitely worth more than the easy ones; this doesn't mean that USMLE is an adaptive exam - on adaptive exams (like GRE and TOEFL) if you answer correctly one question the next one will be more difficult, and so on; on the other hand, if you answer incorrectly one question the next one will be easier, and so on. This isn't so in case of USMLE examinations yet (even when adaptive test will be implemented, most experts think it will be adapting after each BLOCK, not after each QUESTION).'

this means that USMLE isn't adaptive now, but it may become adaptive in the future.

This definitely explains it. Sorry, I missed it in the link.
