If the side effect of a drug occurs in 10% of all pts who take it. A physician has two pts on the drug. What is the probability of the side effect occurin in both pts? What is the probability of the side effect occuring in 1 pt? 1) The events in question are independent Pr (both develop side effects) =0.1 times0.1 =0.01 or 1% 2)These events are not mutually exclusive Pr(at least 1 pt develops side effects=0.1+0.1-0.01=.19or 19%

I dont know if I like that, because it doesnt say one person only. One person would be straight 0.20, whereas one person only requires you to subtract the 0.01 chance that both got it. Am I off base here?
