hi guys,
i have some difficulty in understanding those concepts given in kaplan lecture notes physiology especially in heart muscle mechanics, like preload, independence of preload and contractility, cardiac function curves.....plz somebody can explain all this to me in short.....
one thing more plz check that in kaplan notes it's written that ventric repolarization proceeds from epicardium to endocardium ,well in textbook it's reverse given, which one is right..

This is what I have found on Google. Have pasted the link also below this text. If you open the link then go to section 6.2.2 by scrolling down:From the inner side of the ventricular wall, the many activation sites cause the formation of a wavefront which propagates through the ventricular mass toward the outer wall. This process results from cell-to-cell activation. After each ventricular muscle region has depolarized, repolarization occurs. Repolarization is not a propagating phenomenon, and because the duration of the action impulse is much shorter at the epicardium (the outer side of the cardiac muscle) than at the endocardium (the inner side of the cardiac muscle), the termination of activity appears as if it were propagating from epicardium toward the endocardium.

as you now see how they explain it, now I have a Q. we know that action potential can not be summed and is not decremental , should not it be of the same intensity, duration and everything in all the cells of the heart?
