hi fighter, thanks for the kind words. I was doing vol I and II books and i was also doing step 2 medicine book. I also revised some of the USMLE world questions and was doing the usmle steps 123 questions, i get around 55 - 60% in them. Read the Vol I and II books and if possible do USMLE world questions with thorough explanations, that helps a lot. Thanks again for your support.

I know I am lagging behind in replying. I don't think you are going to accommplish anything unless you think the NBME q's are repeated in the actual exam, do you think so? If you are doing it to psych yourself to the actual exam, may be you can custom create the UW q's or something else

hi fighter, i took the exam, i will not be able to tell you everything about it until i get the results, coz im kinda lost as to how i did, i think i did okay,, but you never know! and the CCS was takable, dont get scared of that, the best prep for ccs in my opinion is the usmle steps 123, coz it makes you practice the cases. anyways will keep in touch for more, tell me whats up with you? the toughest part in my opinion is inpatient care. so long

finally, so you ran the marathon. enjoy the moment of peace!!! did you finally take the NBME again before the exam? was the Inpatient care tough b/c of the next step management or b/c the diagnosis was not clear. for the multiple choice q's what is the singlemost best representation of the exam style & the most time efficient? is there an equal distribution of different systems & the settings?how were the ethics & statistics ?

Hi fighter, sorry for a delayed reply. I finally did run the marathon, and took the exam and all the stress out of my head until now, but now i keep wondering how i did. The inpatient care is tough because i always lost track of where i was, coz the cases were complicated with multiple diagnoses in patients. one problem i did have wa stime. I thought i did not have enough time to complete the blocks, i always left 2-4 questions in the end. the ccs was very good, i felt very comfortable and the usmle steps 123 gave me a good practice of the CCS. what are you up to? and did you take the test yet? stay in touch

hai budlight, good to herar from you. I did not take the exam yet. I know when we have multiple diagnoses, and the next step of management, it is hard to make up the mind. But the good news is that the inpatient q's are less than the outpatient setting right? were the q's particularly long? how about statistics & psychiatry? any endo? I am practising UW q's as much as possible. would you say they are high yield in these last days or kaplan qbook? just to use the little time we have efficiently. are q's so esoteric as some of the q's in UW? Long? i am doing just usmle123 for ccs is it enough? Thanks again.

Hi fighter, sorry once again for a delayed reply. Thats true about th eInpatient care. there are only 2 blocks , one on day one and the other on day two. usmle steps 123 is enough for ccs, itll make you practice most things, you dont really need anything more than that. although im still waiting for my score, and trying to get everything ready to apply with in this week. I will not be able to really say anything for sure, until i get my results, but so far i think you are doing a good job man, good luck.

well friends, My step 3 result was a nightmare, that i am just waking up from. I got a 73/181 which sucks royally. But what are you gonna do. The Important fact right now and a very good fact is, despite that i managed to get a pre-match offer and obviously took it. Thanks to my interviewing skills, experiance and publication everything counted inch by inch i think.. So now, i am frantic, if not desperate to finish step 3 in a month and a half. this time without any stupid fear though. Im planning to grab it by the horns. My suggestion to people who are taking it is, to do UW real well, dont make any stupid moves on the CCS even if you are done with everything and the case doesnt end. (thats what happened with me) anyways friends stay in touch and lets go for this thing one more time, Thanks and god speed.

hey budlight, read your post with interest. hearty congrats on the prematch!!! step 3 is easily the diciest of all the steps... but the confidence and security that comes \ with having a residency position in hand will serve you well. good luck with the exam and your endeavors. seri

Budlight, I had a similar problem regarding time management in atleast half of the blocks. at one block I were yet to answer 5 q when 2 minutes remaining sign appeared on my screen. I still answered all q in haste without reading whole q. luckly few of those q were easy. so I think even though time is a big issue, it is important to answer all q.you may just click randomly as there is no negative marking. congrats for prematch & wish you a better luck for step 3 next time.

Hello everyone, All my friends and well wishers ( hope there are some left here). :-) I am back. obviosly after matching in residency, there was no way i could take step 3 in a month and a half. Many things came,. paperwork, moving, everything else. So now, i am attempting this another time, hopefully studying for 2 months. This time i have some practical experiance, and i have been doing some questions. My knowledge is still there, and i guess waking up at 5:30 everyday, got me used to a long day. At least i wont be tired of thinking this time. That said, i am attempting the NBME one more time next weekend, to establish baseline, and then studying in my weak areas as always. i have a question though, what on earth is continuity of care? that what got me last time, but for the life of me, i cant figure out what i need to read to learn continuity of care. also i think i didnt do many clinical interventions at once last time. I kept doing one thing at a time and looking for response. i think i need to practice the CCS very well. Is there any CCS software other than the steps 123 out there that i can buy? please advice! thanks for all the support in the past. Budlight

hi budlight ...first congrats for the residency position...i am probably in the same boat as you were.i got 73 on step 3,i have 95 on step 1,96 on 2 and cs cleared ,ecfmg certified, recent graduate and some sort of USCE by working with private physicians in US.i will pull through the step 3 i am giving in september end ,because i know what caused my failure.because u went thru all this and though i know it will lot depend on interviews, given the credentials i have, can u please tell me where i stand?i need H1 preferably.

but it depends more on how u perform that very day,coz bj123 did get 80 with 340 on NBME.personal experience with nbme has been thats its been a low predictor in past. ya guys am just trying to reason myself, if u look it from the stats posted by usmle.org,then 85% of ppl passing stp 2 and 71 % of ppl passing stp 1 -out of them 75 % are able to pass.so on an average like 60% something who appear pass.am talking about IMGs.

CINIII wrote: hey starcraftbw,i think ur marks is good over all,but more than marks u need confidence.if u dont feel confidence do postpone, but am sure ur marks are good enough to pass. Agree with you. I think with those u pass without a problem... CIN, thanks for the good wishes , I´ll let you know how I did..., send me positive vibes on the 13th and 16th... Forgot to add USMLE CD 77% and UW timed, unused... Working on weakness, reviewing all steps123 cases today, tomorrow doing a block of qs from uw, reviewing notes from wrong questions, then going fast through uw ccs and practicing in usmle cd some cases, then weak topics from fa... Let´s work hard...

Good luck to you egomez. CIN mine too in the first weekend of Nov. But I haven't done more than 6 blocks in UW and not at all CCS. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm scared whether 4 weeks would be enough. This thread gave me some motivation. I did ck on July 31st, then one month observership and whole Sept was wasted on application. HOPE TO DO kAPLAN LECTURES, CRUSH AND UW MCQ +CCS. Will that be enough. CIN when are u going to take NBME?
