My heart goes out to those who invested in UK. I myself was planning to go to the UK 4 years ago but was told by my brother that it is difficult to find a job despite passing PLAB, hence I went back to my home country and then pursued USMLE after 2 years.

What we can do is to help those who wants to go to the US and what we can do is to advice them the way to do it and how not to make any of the common mistakes. I think they have gone through too much heartache.

hmm even though asian doctors 'saved' the NHS, that wasnt the sole intention of the asian doctor. The UK provided an opportunity - the asian doctor took it up. Now UK apparently doesnt need them anymore so out they go. Thats just the name of the game, in all of life really. doesnt make it right but sure does happen a lot.

maybe in a few years another shortage will come, and if the benefits still dont change, the cycle should repeat itself!

I can only imagine what doctors in UK are going thro.
If the authorities wanted to pass such a bill they should have warned the aspirants well before hand, say 3 or 4 years back that there is a very good possibility that such a law may be passed. That would have been very decent.Looks like they didnt want to loose the revenue coming from PLAB and other investments done by these docs.
I hope these docs find some or the other way to get a permit there.
