I presented the exam of march 28/06 I got my score today 197/81 I studied for 6 months at nigths, I work as a researcher, I Did Kaplan notes, Kaplan q bank, I did all the questions with a score of 65%. The real exam was very comprehensive, my high yields were trauma, endocrino, neurology, OBGYN and pediatrics. The exam is doable, I wish I could have been more relax the day of the exam. I was running out of time at the end of the blocks, but I did not leave any question unmarked. It is important to read the questions well. For preparation, I think it is important to do questions in a timed manner. It is importnat to study efficiently rather than a lot of things that may not be as high yield. One book that help me a lot was MSKP for students 2, is a pre-test for internal medicine with very good explanations. I did get a lot of images. dermatology, a couple of easy EKG, pediatric abdominal X-rays. It is important to do the images in the back of the Harrison . I am glad that I passed, I failed this exam before for poor preparation. eventough i didn't get high 80's or 90's, It is importnat to appreciate that we need to work in the whole package, USCE, USLOR, and a better score in step 1. Thanks to all the previous post that have help me a great deal. Now I am very confident in my approach to Step 1.

Thanks for posting. Knowing what you know now about the exam, how would you have prepared differently?

Dear Cgarmany: I think there are certain amount of subjects that we need to know well, that they always ask, these are the HY, sometimes , we study things that are more difficult or complex, believing that thats is what wiil make the difference. So, my advice is to dominated the HY subjects by doing questions and trying to change or imagine the questions in a different way. I think that that is why USMLEWORLD is better for Step 2 than kaplan, according to all the previous posts, because the real exam ask an "easy" subject but in a trickier way, we had a lot of double jump questions ( the meaning of that is found in kaplan Q book). therefore, I would do USMLEWORLD. Finally I think that lack of confidence, I think that this is critical, I had troubles with this exam in the past because my own fault: lack of good preparation. Therefore that influences you a lot. In other prople that will take it for the first time, this problem is not present, perhaps some uncertainty. In this case you need to be absolute positive and resolute, that you will do well. because, the day of the exam you are going to need it, you can lose control if you start to get anxious and that could jeopardize your focus and your performance, is like the olympics. months of good preparation: intelectual, physical and mental and all is established in the first block. Good start/bad start. I hope this help
