hey, thigger, don't be so depressed!
though your score isn't high, you still have passed this very difficult exam and people from USMLE think that you are on your way to deserve to practice medicine in the US; and there are a lot of people (a lot of members of this forum also) who have passed with scores as low as yours - why you can't see them? because it's also a human nature - it's obvious that they aren't very happy with their scores and so, are reluctant to share their scores with others; there are also many people who have failed the exam - many have failed it not only once, but 2 or even 3 times and now are struggling again to pass, i.e. to get at least 75.
you should know that many people have made it with scores as low as yours and now are doing their residency in the US - scores isn't the only factor when selecting candidates.
also, there is step 2 CK ahead - you still have a chance to prove (first of all, to yourself) that you can get high score on the USMLE, so never give up - just work hardly and you will deserve it - it depends only on you and no one else!

just now was reading how Dr. Brochert advertises his book 'USMLE Step 2 Secrets' on www.amazon.com - he says:
'Written by Dr. Brochert, who scored in the 99th percentile in Steps 1 and 2 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE)...'

what do you think?
do you think he has got 272 on both step 1 and step 2 (this 3-digit score is required to reach 99th percentile on both steps) or do you think he just doesn't know that 2-digit score 99 doesn't mean percentile? ha-ha-ha

I think he probably got 99th %ile. Remember that the NBME only stopped telling you your percentile as of May 1999. Probably didn't need a 272 either, since the mean surely was lower when he took it. Either way, I sure would hope that the guy who is a major source for peoples' hopes of passing knows his stats.

Does that actually indicate how much u got marked for each right answer?or something else?

  #44

does the three digit score mean actual marks for each right answer?confused

  #45

What percentage of test takers actually get a 99...it seems like all the reported scores on this forum are 99s.
