Kaplan Qbank USMLE

hi i presented my ck on april 19 (yesterday). i feel like like i failed more than anything, i cant even remember my exam, most of it is just a blurr. all i know is that it was diferent than UW and kaplan qbank. i can remember feeling like taking my best guess in most and i mean most of the ?'s they were some "few" easy ones and some other "few" i could reason with "some" sense of security. the rest i just dont know what to think of them. i took a 5 minute brake in every blook cause i was afraid of frying my brain and not be able to get over it in a 10 or 15 minute brake so i just went easy on my minds stamina, i think that went well cause i was still thinking ok on the 8th block. my first block was terrible much harder that usmleworld or just wird. as the test went on it got a better but still i think i missed a lot of the tests ?'s. i thougth i was failing during the test exept for like 2 maybe 2 1/2 blooks. i can remember having a bad feeling like i wasent sure of what i was doing. i prayed on every brake to God to clear my mind and let me concetrate my best.
I scored a sad 400 on nbme form 3 2 weeks before the test and ended usmle world with 60%, i reviewed the subjects that i scored low on the nbme with usmle world, work on those subjects until i had all ?'s rigth and read crush almost 2 times after the nbme. i thougt i just neded a 80'something to pass and that i could pulled of with that last review after the nbme but now i just dont see it happening. i feel guilty for no preparing better.

I have read a lot of posts i this forum of people feeling bad after the test and then know they pased but i dont wana get my hopes up. i mean people do fail... anyone had a similar exam experience?

you can read throughout this forum that everyone has the same feeling.afterall 2 weeks after the nbme must have mattered. 400correlates to 193. so you may have better chance of getting a 80 percentile(197) than failing(182).

i have not yet taken 2ck,and my UWavg ~ 62 till now. can you please tell me how many revisions you gave to kap & to UW each.

hi guys, its nice to hear the good side of the story, 3535 you are rigth! chance is on my side!. i hope in 3 weeks i can say the same thing falcom... ill let you guys know.

--i have not yet taken 2ck,and my UWavg ~ 62 till now. can you please tell me how many revisions you gave to kap & to UW each.---

3535 i took i big gamble with my preparation.... i only read kaplan internal medicine notes 2 times GIN/OBS and Surgery one time after that only crush the boards..... i used UW as a learning tool more than a evaluation tool, unused ?'s on untimed mode until i had 600 ?'s completed, at that time i had 58% overall score. after that UW 'on timed mode' in the morning/ crush on the afternoon, readed crush 2 times and then nbme.

after the NBME i readed the subjects i scored low from the kaplan internal medicine and pediatrics notes.... and reviewd those same subjects on UW for the second time. read those kaplan notes at least 2 times, internal medicine more than that if u have the time.

dont listen to people that say that step 2 is easyer than step 1.. like i did... is not! its just as hard, with my preparation im going to be very lucky if even pass, but like step 1 if you give it your best shot you will score hi.

good look on your exam!

Hardhead:

Must trust in your effort, seems that U did OK during your preparation and should have faith in the outcome of it. The fact that U feel bad right now doesn't mean at all that U failed, as a matter of fact several dudes with aced exams felt the same way as you.

Cheer up!

hi few days ago I took my step 2 ck Exam and It was exactly as you describe It was horrible and frustrant because I think that the 90% of the questions was simple to guess , only 10% I was sure about my answer , the first blok was so hard , the second no much but the others 6 were so difficult!!!!!! i believe that I have all wrong and my expectatives finally , dissapears

I felt exactly the same, when I came out for my Step 2, I felt I failed as I could not even remember the questions and of those I remember were the ones I got wrong!! But in the end, I received the double digit score of 93. If your USMLE world scores , Q bank scores and NMBE scores are good, it will work out fine.

Hi... To be honest with you... I had the same feelings after the exam... for me must of the questions were very difficult !!.... when I did the USMLE cd I felt very well... and I did !! It was 41/43/41... It was one week prior the exam... then during the exam... I felt it was very hard to get the answers... some of them I just clickled and move on !!... jaja... but don`t worry guys it seems like it the same post step 2 ck feeling... now I feel a little bit better... Hardhead don`t worry.... I felt same like you... and yesterday I just did the ECFMG trick and I passed !!!... now I`m waiting to get a good score !... you will do the same !!...

Hi fellas... I didn`t any of the NMBE... I get 66% in Kaplan Cd... and above 70 average in Qbook... I did twice Qbank... the first time I did it... I got 65%... two months later... the second time... 72%. I heard that UW is a very good tool to learn and practice... I`m still waiting for my exam results.

  #19

hi,

I had an exactly same feeling like urs....almost everythig similar....blurr memory of test, difficult 1st two blocks n rest were also not easier,90%guess i thought so, step 1 much easierr,no clues in the q. stem,,,,,,,,,,,was def. not sure of passing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,got my score n it was 89......so moral of story.........u can't predict anything............just go by ur nmbe score.....they r pretty accurate.........mine nmbe score was 90 n i got on real test 89....so acc. to ur nmbe score u will easily pass.,gl

after the examination they print you a notice that reads: under normal circumstances, your results will be mailled within six weeks of the date that you took the examination. Do not call abaut your scores unless more than six weeks have elapsed.

but almost always Oasis reports your score on the 3rd wednesday after your exam.

Edited by hardhead on 05/02/06 - 08:18 AM. Reason: its 3 weeks no 2 sorry:)
