With the new VISA regulations in UK barring IMG's from taking up training posts there will be a lot of ppl planning to move to US. I am in a similar situtation.... Graduated in 2000, MS(gen. Surg) in 2004, MRCS Ed 2005. The whole idea of giving MLE now is daunting to say the least.I would still be willing to go ahead, but only if there is a chance of getting my speciality. I do not have any research papers, but I do have case reports and review of literature in peer reviewed journals. I dont think I would be able to give my MLE steps before 2006 match starts. I have been led to believe that there are hardly any (if any) surgical programme's in postmatch. so..my best option would be for 2007 match.(ill be one year older!!!!) What are the chances of getting contempory surgery in US? Would I have to get high 90 scores(would be bit of a stuggle)?Do programmes have an age cut off?does UKCE count? Long story...too many questions..but i would really appreciate some help to decide....to give (mle) or not to give....that is the question? cheers

I have never worked in the surgery fields - sorry, can't advise you.
