Thank you, everyone. Took Step 3 on 21st and 22nd of September- yesterday and the day before. Seems like such a long time ago already! So relieved that it's over. It was a hard exam, both in terms of the complexity of the questions and stamina it required to sit and focus for all that time, two days in a row. Most of the MCQs were long. Lots of images too- 5 EKGs, about 7 Derm pictures and a few X-rays. The CCS cases were familiar ones and I think I managed them pretty ok, except for this one person who just did not get better no matter what I did, and the case just would not end! I kept seeing the person every week for three weeks and was so relieved when the 20 minutes were up. I will post more details soon.

I got my results yesterday. I have passed with 196/80. I am very disappointed with the score as I worked towards and expected to score in 90s. The NBME assesment and USMLE CD scores were also predictive of a higher score and I felt that my performance in the real exam was not terribly bad either. I have decided not to have a score check after much deliberation. I am comforting myself that it is a passing score and that the step 3 score does not matter much.
I am thankful for all the support and encouragement from my husband without which I could not have taken any of the exams. Someone had noticed that I do not mention him in the journal but only talk about my daughter. I did not feel sorry for all the sacrifices that we did because we were a team and we took it upon ourselves willingly to work towards a common goal. I did feel like a terrible mother and a terrible person when my 2 year old daughter fell sick because she did not bargain into the equation of missing her mother's love and company by going to day care. Hope time heals all wounds!

congrats LisaM..u have been a big inspiration to me(and many more, i am sure) throughout all the steps...i am sorry the score doesn't come close to ur nbme score, but u can now put the usmle behind u and spend some well deserved time with ur family before residency makes u busy all over again..

LisaM, my sincere congrats, the most important thing is you passed it at your first attempt. Step 3 is a difficult exam before you start a residency.
