because anti toxin is for rapid neutralization of toxin .. infant botulism remember is acquired by honey and in the honey are the spores not the pre formed toxins as the adults acquire .. ok?

in infant botulism, the spores are ingested and the bacteria grows and releases its toxin from intestines as opposed to adult that ingests preformed toxins from canned foods. so the adult has a fulminant condition as opposed to child (mrs)

the prognosis is excellent for children and require mainly respiratory support ( mmi)

children may be treated with human hyperimmune globulin (is antitoxin) and adults with polyvalent antitoxin (kaplan).

so in summary, children are not usually given antitoxin cos they have excellent prognosis but it does not mean they are NEVER given antitoxin
