How would you treat a pregnant lady diagnosed to have syphilis, who is allergic to penicillin ?

  #2

Skin test her and desensitize her to PCN.
(Emycin dosnt cross the placenta well)

Thanks

or could we use Azithromycin? that is safe in preg and is a macrolide.

  #5

Once again macrolides dont cross placenta well--tetracycline would be a far better DISTANT second

except for estolate compound of erythromycin(causes maternal hepatotoxicity) erythromycin and azithromycin are B rated drugs and fine in preg.
