Hi guys,

I am currently at med school at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm Sweden (3rd year). I am thinking of maybe trying to do my residency in the US but I am hesitating when I read about all the struggle you have to go through...

What kind of scores do you think I need in order to integrate a University program in Internal Medicine? (I will have three months of US clinical experience from elective courses, but no publications)

Once I have completed my residency, will I be sure of getting a job in America? This is a very important issue for me since US residency won´t count in Sweden and I would thus have to redo the whole thing.

please answer if you know anything that could help me, maybe this is another question for bbb?

With 3 mos of US clinical experience, try to get some lors, and good USMLE scores 85 - 95 range, be prepared to apply to at least 50 IM progs, be ready on sept 1 to send application , get your facts straight regarding visa issues. If you do good, and have no visa problmes i dont see a problem why you cant get no job...

hey man u at "the karolinska institute". u folks have ton loads of research goin on there. get involved with something - am sure it will work out. u will have an edge over asian imgs as ur institute is very very well reputed. also with 3 months of electives u will have a great shot. for score - the more the better. and there is a shortage of docs. as long as u avoid the J trap u will have no probs findin a job..

i feel mle is not an exam of intelligence - but more an test of bein determined and hardworking and bein aao x 3 during exam day. with perseverance any1 with even certified retardation (like me) can get a decent scoresmiling face
