Hi,
I am nithu, new to this forum.I am taking my CS on may 2nd.I am an old graduate, graduated in 2001.I was working in uk till 2005, now a full time mother in US.Read LISA M 's journals for all the steps,it helped me lot and gave me courage to start my steps.

Starting with CS as i think it will be more easy for me coz of the clinical experience i have.Step1 and 2 will be the biggest task in my entire life as i haven't actually studied ( real study ) since my graduation .

I have started my prep with UW. I have gone thru the introduction and the first 10 sample cases.Hopefully i can finish the next 10 now.Now its 11.20 am, a very late start of the day.Hope i can make use of the rest of the day fruitfully.

nodHi,I think you are in good speed.I have just registered for the CS.Havent started studying for it.Do you suggest USW to be a good resource?Let me know your opinion.

Yesterday was a bad day for may didn't do much practicing.Hope i can be better today.
Need to finish 10 more cases from UW.
hi drB+,
UW is the best option.I don't know much about FA, it seems FA has listed all the DDs for each case separately.UW will be sufficient if u go thru all the cases.
Good luck for ur exams :smiling face

Completed CS on may 2nd in philly. I used UW and FA . The UW videos were great to teach physical examination. The proctors and SPs were all nice in Philly.I think my exam went on well. All the cases were very straight forward. My advice to all those who are planning to take exam is to practice writing the PN coz this will help u save a lot of time.Try to remain cool before and during the exam, they are actually not there to test ur knowledge. We need to behave professionally, don't let the patient know that u are nervous inside.Expect some unusual answers from the SPs, they won't reveal anything unless u ask specifically. This is what i think, if anyof u have any doudt pls don't hesitate to ask.Need to start step 2 ck prep now.Thank u all for ur help and support.

hi nithu,
felt bit relieved after reading ur post, i have my exam next week in philly, have few doubts,
did u drape the pt as soon as u entered the room, do we have to use layman terms for rectal and pelvic examination if so what r they,
overall how are the SPs when did u report at the centre and when did the actual exam started, how were the two breaks divided,
iam sorry for such a lengthy post,
thank u very much in advance and wish u all the success

Hi Naina,
I didn't drape the patient as soon as i entered, but did it before my physical examination. For PR u can tell - 'we will be examining ur back passage with one finger, its not painful but may cause bit discomfort'.When i explained about pr the SP asked the q ,whether it hurts doctor?.
Counselling of lab result - My opinion is u should tell all the cases what investigation u are going to do in layman's term.
There will be atleast one ER setting, just let the patient know that u care for their pain and will sort the pain as soon as the PE is over.

The center will open at 7.30, they will def start the orientation at 8.00 am.Exam will be over by 3.30.U will get a 30 mt break after 5 cases, then 15 mt break after 4 and then 3 cases [ 12 cases ] .I hope that covers everything.I will be ready to help , in case u have anymore doudt.

hi there, i`m new to the prep journal. my exam is on 25th may, in houston. doing the uw and FA. i`m a bit nervous about the diagnosis part. what if i dont figure it out? also isaw this list of 40 cases on the downloads section. has anyone done those cases? or are they very old? pls let me know

  #17

Hi docrao5,
Don't worry much about the diagnosis part, but try to be confident with all the dds for the cases given in UW.Concentrate on histroy taking, try not to miss any of the imp headings-PAMHUGSFOSS.I am not sure about the 40 cases, but be familiar with all the cases in UW.They won't ask anything otherthan that.Good luck. Please be free to ask anymore doudts that u have.
