Hi all, I took my step 2 exam last week, and I am actually still recovering! the exam is different from what I thought it would be, it is so long, and the questions seem to need more clinical judjement than mere knowledge! the majority of questions were of internal medicine, there was lots of neurology, endocrine, and electrolyte disturbances, psychiatry was covered very well, so was pediatrics, the questions on ob/gyn were more of decision making and all the choices seemed right to me!! In general Ifound that kaplan and NMS are the best, mock exam is good too, First aid was my best study companion, it helped alot. I hope toget a good score, since I really worked hard on this exam!! I will be glad to answer any questions BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!

Hi malian, I actually took step 2 before step 1, and I believe I did the right thing, coz I am more in contact with the things I studied in my last year, than what I did in the second or third, so I think ur plan is good. Regarding the books I studied mostly blueprints, except for internal medicine where I felt it wasn't enough, so I went thru some topics in cecil, and I also used blueprints in cardiology, and neurology(both excellent)I also used first aid, that I found particularly helpful. I heard about cracking & crushing the boards, many people say they are good but i didn't try them. Wish u best of luck too!

hi vsgri, It actually took me about 3 months to prepare for my exam, with an average of 6-8h/day, regarding kaplan what I did was the question book only, so I didn't take the lessons, I don't even know much about them, but they are really expensive! The question book contains about 1000 mcqs, they are very good, although nothing really reflects the exam

I took step 2 two weeks ago. And found it very similar to Kaplan qbank except exam questions a bit easier. Mainly there was internal medicine with some pediatrics. And interestingly - not that much psychiatry, preventive med., surgery and !!!! milestones. I`m not sure if I passed as it took just 4 hours instead of 6 for an exam....And what I got from Kaplan - if you first choose an answer it`s more possible to be the right one than if you check it and make a second opinion. Anyway before giving any advice I have to wait my results.
