mating is random
no mutation occurs at the locus
no migration in/out of pop
no selection for any of the genotypes at locus

so if pop is in H-W equil, then the equations are.....

p(squared) + 2pq + q(squared) = 1

( 2pq is heterozygote prev)

and

p+q = 1
