Thank you Tolito and Malik for looking for/ remembering me. I hope things are going well for both of you. I will read all your achievements when I get out of depression.

For 2 weeks, I did not read anything. It started with the long weekend. I had big plans as usual like everybody - Don't know what happened. But, did not read a line since then. Well, I was very depressed and very depressed. Hence, did not feel to even post anything here.

Today, I came to the library but with so much gap, I am not able to concentrate. I vow to come back tomorrow morning, read well this weekend and hopefully this will be the last break before I complete my goal. I started my USMLE step 1 application today when I was not going through the books well. I am way behind schedule. I promised to myself today that I will achieve consistency. Let us see!

Goal for the weekend: Tomorrow and the day after - each day atleast 35 pages of Goljan with audio. Each day atleast 30 Qs.

Today I remembered that my wife at the time of my son's birth (Nov. last year) asked me if I would complete atleast one USMLE step by the time my son turns 1. It was only few days before that I started serious prep. I thought one year's time is too much. I laughed within myself and told my wife that I would be done at the most by July. My wife told me that would be the best present I could give to my little one (she probably forgot about it then and there itself). Then, I thought he surely will get it.

Here I am in June and am looking towards July to complete 1st reading! After my son's birth, I did not touch the book till Mar. 1st week.

Let us see if this Dad is gonna keep his promise or not! As of now, I plan Oct 1st week. I think I can take Mid -Sept but have got an office conference to attend. That will disturb my exam. Hence, Oct 1st week.

Today was ok. I am doing well at the moment. Completed inflammation.

coolguy, dont stay depressed too long. it is retroprogressive when one stays depressed. fight back the spirit of depression. just take life one day at a time and take time out to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like watching your son kick a ball, hearing his vocabulary improve, seeign the pleasure on your wife's face when you come home from work.

as regards academics, it can be depressign when you look at the pile of work to be done. i just say to myself each day, one down one more to go tomorrow. i also get depressed but it only serves to prevent me from studying. at the moment, i am undergoing a lot of stress but i figure the stress will only distract me from mygoal. so i keep my eyes on my goal and just press on.

yes, dad can keep his promise!!!

Yestreday was satisfactory. I woke up at 7:30 am and it is already 800. I need to get out of the house to read.

Tolito,

Thanks. Yes, I want to complete all my steps and play football with my son when he will be 1 1/2 or 2 yrs old.

Malik Bhai,

Thank you.

I am reading slowly. I have applied for a leave from next wednesday till July 4th to kick things to another notch. I am trying everything but the train still is very very slow. I am not used to this kind of slow reading. So, am getting depressed pretty easily. I may not have confidence till the exam. May be when I do the Q banks and if I score well, I will increase my confidence.

Seems Thank you.

MTX: It has been more than 2 mons now that I have been using this. I am now not feeling the initial dizziness or nausea but sometimes diarrhoea the day I take this pill. The interesting things are here howeever. I went for my blood testing - Hepatic Panel, CBC diff and Lipid Profile (which is my own request).

Hepatic Panel/ other: Everything was ok - AST, ALT, Albumin, globulin .......but Calcium was lower than normal range!!! Why??? No clue and my physician told his nurse to make me aware of this. This explains my symptoms for the last 1 month or so - weakness of muscles esp. calf and forearm muscles. But, I have no clue why MTX should decrease Calcium??? Do you have any clue?

CBC diff: As expected, the WBC count was in the lower point of the normal range. Probably within 2 more months, it will less than normal. Neutrophils were only 40 % - that is less than normal.

My HDL cholesterol is low and my risk for CHD per HDL/total cholesterol ratio is 2 times than average. So, need to keep tab on what I am eating!

My reading has been slow and steady....slowwwwwwwwwwwww!
