Does anybody know why the extension of index and middle fingers is lost in CTS?

the median nerve control the first and second lumbricals which function is to flex digits 2, 3 at the metacarpophalangeal joints and also extend interphalangeal joints of digits 2, 3

usuaaly one get only sensory symptoms and in severe cases APB weakness. Lumbrical weakness quite rare but can occur. Vallia's explanation tells the reason.
