my visa is B1/B2..I asked for extension 5 months ago and it is approved,now I'm applying to H1B visa and I think to ask for 2nd extension for B1/B2 until my work begining on July,is it wise to do so or it is better to travel to my country and get H1B visa from the embassy there

hi,
i am on visitor visa and i am applying for an extension so that i can take my step 3 exam. will this be a good reason and will this give me more chances of being approved? or would t be safe to say that i am requesting for the purpose of visiting other places in US? what suppporting documents are needed? thanks very much,
