Hi everybody. Great forum. My first post is unfortunately a questionsmiling face
This question has been coming and going to my mind for a long time now. feel that i should know for sure whether my bad medical school transcript will render me unable to match or not before going all along this long path.
I repeated the first two years in my school because of family problems where i could not really concentrate on anything. Then in the clinical years everything went better. So you may see on the first pages of my transcript some really bad GPAs like 13 and 40 55 etc..
Does anybody know how seriously is a transcript taken into account in the selection process of candidates. Supposing we did really well at usmle 1 and 2?
thanks all

hi alavna, welcome to the forum. are u an IMG? this question might be answered best in the match support forum since people who have just gone thru the process can best tell you if their transcripts were an issue. but from what i've read step 1 scores are the most important factor and transcripts less important to program directors. some report transcipts not even coming up in the interviews. so i'd recommend just worrying about doing very well in the steps especially part 1

Thanks General. Yes I am an IMG.
I asked because I saw many programs asking for trnascripts. I emailed one of them and waiting for their response.
