beautiful day indeed.....my husband left to the country side for a nice family reunion....I had to skip that, stay home and read.... Last saturday, on another superb spring day, he invited me to the botanical gardens....i had to pass on that too... I just hope all the sacrifice will lead to something good! I finished ID with a frustrating score of 67%, the lowest so far... How many more traps and little details can they put in those questions???? I'm going to read respiratory now....don't really feel like it, but at least it helps knowing that I'm not the only one struggling here. well, sweets make up a little for my pain too... Let's keep munching and reading! have a good day my friends!

AlinaT Hi.Can you pl tell me if you read a topic other than from kaplan before doing UW,your scores are great. You have great scores in step1 i am sure u find it helpful in present prep. Can you advise me on this basis what extra efforts i should put before/after UW considering i gave step 1 long time back.I plan to revise FA-1 quickly after my UW. Thanx

hi 3535, I read blueprints ( IM, peds, obgyn) with my first reading; i loved the books, but I decided to stick with kaplan in my following readings because they are more concised and USMLE oriented. so i guess the answer would be no, i don't rely on anything other than kaplan. UW is such a nice complementary source to kaplan, they seem to cover everything...and then some. my notes are getting pretty big. As far as step 1 goes, i know what u mean when u say it's a disadvantage taking it long time ago. I also get the feeling while doing qs from UW that i should read again my step 1 notes, there's stuff i know I used to know but i forgot or i don't have a strong grip on, and they DO ask stuff based on step1 knowledge, that's for sure. i took step 1 one year ago, i remember most of it but i'm definitely planning to go through the notes I made, especially those taken from goljan audio lecture, and maybe FA also, I'll see. it shouldn't be a very big stress about that, just a quick reading, as you said, step 2 notes are big time consumers anyway. maybe we should make a deal with ourselves and read a few pages of step 1 every night before going to bed or whenever we're done with step 2 prep for that day, so that it'll help our UW scores a little also. I've been trying to push myself to do that, so that it'll run smoothly and that step 1 won't take a big chunk of my time, but i ended up by procrastinating.... What do you think...?

I had been asking God to decrease my sleep. I think my prayers have worked ,esp since i am lagging in my UWschedule.

Hi 3535, poisoning q were really easy- i studied it from Kp only---but i think my step-1 knowledge(CNS-pharma) helped me alot. BTW it's been a yr i took step-1. I think we shldn't be worried about our our UW score as long as it's in 60,s---Anyway we'll learn from it----that,s why i didn't do prev med from any other source other than KP & i learnt from my mistakes. I hope i am doing the rt thing. If u want u can review Cns pharma grossly.GL

Hi, how is everybody doing? 3535, chikimi, agn....hanging in there? trying to keep full speed on this race? I'm ok, I had some bad days lately, I'm having sinusitis for the first time in my life....it gives me headaches and sleepiness....I'm trying to stay up and going, not at my best but still going at least. I'm almost done with UW IM, have to finish neuro today, then derma and ophtalmo. so this weekend i should move on the peds. so far my lowest areas are preventive, ID and GU. I know i will have to work more on those, but I feel like i'm already doing everything I can...I don't know what else to read now other than kaplan plus the explanations I wrote down from UW. I can't wait to be done with this....5 more weeks...and so much more to work on Have a good day guys, and drop a word here from time to time, to keep each other motivated.

Hi,everyone. Its nice to know everyone is benefiting from each other's company on this post. Get well soon AlinaT. You people get great scores, keep going. I am stuck w/ my 60-64 in IM, but dont know what to do besides making best use of UWnotes revisions. I was busy since 2 days for a little interview for a little job which i may do after my exams. It went well, and i am back to studies w/ a good mood. I would esp like to share cvs UW exp. & prep. I have not done it till now.

hi guys....nice to hear you're making good plans for after the exam 3535! when will you be done with CK and CS? I did CVS, actually I think I started with that, i got 75% with only kaplan notes read. so you should be fine, i didn't find it very frustrating as other topics (you know my lows already) chickimi, you always had good scores....I'm sure you'll do better than me on GU, I finished it with only 63%!! well, I just hope the notes from UW are enough extra points.... ok...finally done with neurology....final score 78%. took longer than planned because I had to read some step 1 neuroanatomy stuff. yesterday i finished electrolites with 75%. So far my cumulative score is 73%... i'm feeling a little better with my sinuses, but I think I got conjunctivitis now... . it's either a virus or too much computer..?... i'm gonna start derma now...I know this one will take long also, I need to look for some images on the internet. can you recommend any good sites? good luck and let's keep going!!

hi chickimi, it got shocked too when i was doing GU test....and ya, i didn't feel like anything that day....was broke. i had to pick myself up the next day after a good cry and keep going.... one foot in front of the other...move steadily forward. I found the nephro section of kaplan weak, compared to what those UW qs asked...so much on prostate, infections, that kaplan skipped quickly through. But now we're one step forward than before UW, right? and that's what those qs are meant for....to LEARN, and we DID!! Good luck!
