147. A 28 year old woman with history of infertility and spontaneous abortions has a hysterosalpingogram that demonstrates a T-shaped uterine cavity. A transverse ridge in the upper vagina and cervical stenosis are also noted during the procedure. Biopsy of the upper third of the woman's vagina would most likely show A. Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma B. Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma C. Squamous Carcinoma D. Squamous Metaplasia E. Vaginal Adenosis (A or E?) and WHY?

Its clear cell adenocarcinoma, I pick this as it involve both the cervix and vagina. and as said babli its because of the exposure of DES . alsi vaginal adenosis is a benign lesion and is a precursor of clear cell adenocarcinoma. I am unable to rule out the cause of infertility

The correct answer given by Kaplan is E. Vaginal Adenosis!! DES exposure inutero leads to Vaginal adenosis, and Clear Cell Carcinoma later on in life. So why is it E and not A? How can you tell? How can we also rule out other choices?
