A 16 yrs old girl drops in outpatient dept.,she reveals that she had sexual assualt 3 months back.She fears that she is pregnant and wants to get aborted (if pregnancy test is positive).She wants the doctor to keep it confidential.What should the doctor do?
Can he break the confidentiality to her parents?
Will the decision to get abortion done is done by the hospital committee(according to the hospital ethics)?

Shes under age, lives at home, not married,-- needs consent from parents for abortion

I remember reading in BRS that only some states require that parents be informed, there are states which do not require consent of parents for abortion... if this is right, then this question might not come in boards.
