it says that VIP is inhibitory parasympathetic peptide

how will it affect the sphincters n motility?

Leen could you pls tell me where is it so written that its an inhibitory parasympathetic peptide as I have not come across such a thing for VIP...and VIP relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter and the pylorus hence it should promote motility. and if it is really an inhibitory parasympathetic peptide then also it will telax the lower esophageal sphincter as parasympathetics relax all the sphincters promoting motility except lower esophageal.

doc 179 in kaplan its mentioned that its a inhibitory peptide n a parasympathetic one .....

so that confused me...

I might b wrong in interpreting it
