Hi, havent touch my books today- hubby is away at work today too, kids are home, laundry and errands all piled up, so no progress - i think i will settle the kids and watch the next 1 0r 2 lectures, if possible. I am one of those clean-freaks that just can't think if there isnt a place for everything and everything in its place! But just having this journal makes me feel accountable to the journal and forum and reminds me that i need to make some USMLE- related progress everyday. Thank you for that!

yes, serenity, i think you have it in the right order for someone who has been away for so long. me too. it is tempting to want to do step2 before 1 cos you think it is easier. no way. there is a lot to be gained by doing 1 before 2 for old img's. recent grads can do it that way but not us.

all the best

( hey serenity, take it easy on yourself and allow a little dirt or take some TCAgrin)

hi, didnt do much over the weekend but was at my desk my 8:30AM today and finished the basic prinicples of pharmacology by 2:00PM. Everything seems to take much longer and feels more volatile. Moving onto either Autonomic system or Cardiovascular tomorrow- it depends on which one is more appealing tomorrow morningsmiling face.Right now i have to help the kids with their homework, give them a snack, fix dinner etc. Maybe if i am still awake i will read some Microbiology.
tolito, thanx for the input. i tried to ignore the messy house but i couldnt ( honestly, this seriousgrin) so instead of the TCA's, i just removed myself from the scene of crime and shifted to the library with my booksgrin

Onwards with Autonomic nervous system today- spent 4-5 hours reading this topic and revising basic principles. 4-5 hours is all i can give right now - i seem to get saturated and tired (my head actually hurts from all the knowledge its regainingwink) My limit was 2 hours when i started last month, so this is an improvementwink My younger son says its becoz i have to carry all those words inside my headgrin- closer to the exam i hope to be one stuffed head!!nod

Okay, reading always slows down on the weekend confused I can't do much about it right now except make the most of the weekdays. From today i am going to maintain strict deadlines- i hope to finish pharmacology and microbiology (first read and notes) by the end of September. Sometimes i find the whole process overwhelming- juggling kids and studying for an exam is really hard.

Okay, much better day today
8:00AM- sent the kids off to school
8:30AM- 2:15PM- - settled down with Microbiology (Kaplan LN) Also watched 1 Pharmacology lecture
2:30PM- picked the kids
4:00 Pm settled the kids down with snack and a half-hour of tv. Watching another Pharmacology lecture.

Aim for this week- Finish Bacteriology. In Pharamcology revise basic principles and finish ANS.

Fun fact of the day- Composed a poem for Strep pyogenes (don't know if you guys have read my earlier poem on staph aureus, its in one of the earlier journal entries, its cute even if i say so myself) and had a cool Java chip Frappuccino at Starbucks. wink

Hi, My journal may have fewer entries from now on, I am going to update maybe once a week only- my son has some health issues and this, along with other personal problems ( won’t bore all of you with the details) force me to proceed very slowly with my usmle prep. I don’t have much progress to report though I read at every opportunity. In addition, it has been 10 years since I studied, so I need to go back and remind myself of all the basics time and again. All of this takes a lot of time and needs much more than the meager 5 hours (and that’s on a good day) that I am able to give. I am trying very hard to keep my faith and continue my progress but sometimes, I lose all hope. My husband has a very demanding job that we are dependent upon (especially since I quit my job to study) and even though he helps, there is still too much to do. Trying to hang in there....sad
