Hello: First I'd like to congratulate all who recently matched... read you had a lond and hard journey so you deserve it. I'd like to know my chances in the 2007 match, and if there is anything to improve my application. I grad on 2003, just passed step 1 with 97 and will do cs/ck in may. Have 1 LOR from an anesthesiologist and 1 from my actual boss (non-US). Have over 10 publications in peer review journals. No US experience but probably will do an observership in august... So what do you think? Do I have chances to get an IM residency? Thanks guys!..

Hi, You are going to have your 3 scores by September 1st, and your step 1 score is great, I don't see how you woul have a problem. Go for it. Maybe in the months after May you could try to get your CV better, get an externship or LORS, so you can have the hole package. Good luck Yolanda

Thanks Yolanda. I read ther you already matched.. sincere congratulations!!! I'll try to improve my cv and certainly will give it a shot... by the way, what do you think of a LOR from a IMG at PGY1, I have several friends at that level from top medical centers. Regards..

Hi Isther, When I read your congratulations because I've already matched, I felt so good, It's a shame that it is not true!, sniff, sniff, your must have me confused with someone else. I haven't even finished my step 1 online application form!! A lot of people have told me that I should aim for match 2008, because since I am just starting studying, I am going to do my step 1 in August or Sep, and I will apply for residency in Oct or Nov, with just the step 1 grade, and do step 2 ck and cs in December, so they tell me my chances to match in 2007 are slim, and that I should aim for 2008, but I am still going to try to give it a shot, because I have wasted 4 years almost 5 already and am 30 years old. So good luck to both of us, jejeje. About the LORS,mmmm I am not sure, if bbb or other elite or seniors members could answer this one, because I am not sure, I guess that having those letters is better than nothing, no?. Wait to see if someone else replies. Bye Yolanda
