First of all I would say THANK GOD for passing this step. I just knew my results today and I decided for the first time to write in this great forum. I have benefited beyond description from every single person's contribution and I don't want to name any one in particular but to every single one of you out there who shared a piece of information, I would like to say "THANK YOU ALLOT" your words have made all the difference. It really did. I have one more step to study for but I just wanted to say how much I’m grateful. I took my step 2 CS in Jan 12 and my results have just posted today. I studied from both First Aid and Usmle World (1 month subs.) and I made my own notes out of both of them. I prepared for 3 weeks (5 hours a day) and practiced allot on my friends. My advice for you is to watch your time and be FOCUSED and come to terms that you can’t do everything in those 15 min. Practice allot under time constraint. I tried to focus on my interpersonal skills because I thought that they can be my major cause of failure and I emphasized the importance of making a closure (summarizing, giving a “possible” diagnosis and a work up plan in layman language, to council and ask if SPs have any questions with a good hand shake and promise of meeting again when the results of the work up are out) rather than taking an extensive history (that doesn’t mean by any way that you shouldn’t take a good relevant history and a focused examination ). Again your sympathy with the patient can make all the difference so show them that you really care and that you are always there for them. I made a protocol of approach for each group of cases and I memorized it blindly because I tend to forget and I did forget allot of questions under the exam pressure but that protocol have always helped me to recover. I made mistakes but I passed thanks to God’s grace and to the help of all my family and friends and all of you who have previously contributed. If I can pass the CS then most definitely you too can. Wishing all of you the best of luck and a peace of mind.
