ALmost done with first reading of peds...it feels like im running thru topics and subjects without much sticking to my brain but then it is my first reading..Still a bit confused about how & when to incooperate FA into my schedule ..it feels like kaplan in itself is pretty much concise while on the other hand i dont feel good about not doing atleast a general reading of FA. Maybe i will Add FA to kaplan this time...it might work out who knows.. ...i hope to finish it soon though so that i could start my UW along with the sec reading. Goodluck

barely finished peds and started obgyn...lets see...i took the advice frm tolito to keep it short...and do things quickly....i think she is right...we have to pick up pace...sec i ahve decided i will add fa to kaplan and make it my major review book for the last week...i hope it works out...bye ya'll keep studying

So i just finished my psychiatry...and along with that my first reading of all the subjects....now i intend to add questions along with reading..hope everything goes according to my plans...

Oh God im so confused....my exam is on 15th jan...i have no idea what to do now...sometimes i feel i am lacking the memorization part...other times it feels like i lack depth of knowledge and logic....im going insane....i was supposed to just memorize Firstaid in these last few days...but while revising Usmleworld i felt i dont know half of it.... ...im so mad at myself today....im tired of postponing my exam...its sickening....

feeling of "lack of memorizaion", is a common syndrom close to the exam!! dont be worried, and please STOP being mad at yourself all the time!!!
you have done a great job so far! i am a mother with no help and i can understand how hard it can be stuyding with no help around, so just pad your shoulder for being such a hardworker.
i also suggest, doing NBME, it would be really helpful, it will probably booster your selfconfidence and calm you down and thus make you ready for the exam day.

Sometimes i just wanna let it out of my system and theres no better place than this forum where you are completely anonymous yet have with so many friends around.
My prep is going on a roller coaster...one day i feel i am improving other day feels like no hope. i took nbme 2 on dec 16 scored not so well and decided to go over things again which i did.
I am getting Usmleworld questions right, but then i have already done them in the book format so thats no way to judge. i took kaplan simulated which is probably from 2005 and scored badly 67%.
Now i dont know whatelse to do...most of the times im feeling i lack the in depth knowledge...but i dont have enough stamina to go buy CMDT and read that too. i have to take the test on jan 15 or at the most jan22. 6th of jan i will take another nbme to see if i have improved or not.
Although the initial plan is if i score around 80-82% this time too i will postpone it indefinitely.
But i seriously donot have the courage to keep doing it. There is more to life than these exams, more responsibilities to take care of, more milestones to cheer for...a whole lot of Life that im missing.
Oh God help me....give me my dream score in this NBME and this step 2...I may not be the smartest person but i am trying so hard. Help me God

Hi Sarika,
i get the similar feelings like urs somtimes, but we r lucky enough to get this oppurnity to take the usmle exams, without visa hurdles, etc.. take this exams as a challenge, n hope in the near future u r going become a good doctor..

hey thanks for stopping by my journel lecheah and challenge. You are right about visa thing atleast thats one less thing to worry about.
Yeah the depressive phase is kind of over and now im probably undergoing hypomania ....revising firstaid...it has so much info hidden in the least expected places...today i did cardio somehow i always mix up murmurs s2 s3 radiation really badly....so now im trying to memorize it once and for all. will take nbme soon..Goodluck to all of you too....hope we all make it happily to the next match season...

My prep is finally a little bit more organized and less chaotic. i am calm now too..maybe a little too calm i dont know...i hate winter as it is...but when you add a cloudy day to it...it becomes hopeless...nothing gets done....after numerous cups to coffee i finished dermatology..now have to give endo and renal a quick revision...Not doing questions anymore..i get too involved...destroys my schedule..so now first i will revise everthing, then take NBME to assess myself...and hopefully take the exam next. Goodluck to everyone....ya'll ahve been great..

I got graduation diploma in 2002,final exam was in 2000
I passsed step1 in 2nd chance with 80%only in nov 2006..Now I have started ck from mid Dec.
but it is taking time to read,I have a kid of 3and half and he goes to schol only for 3hrs.so everyday I heardly get 7-8 hrs.
I dont think I can apply for 2008 match,as I have to go for cs also.So what is my chance to get a residency in US?i I have no usclinicalexperience till now.
So should I continue or give up and stay as housewife rest of my life,but I can not even think of that. So please help me .

madhumika,try to send ur kid to school that's more affordable so that he can be out for few more hrs,u will be able to do proper ck study if he is out for 5 hrs,then u can study 3 hrs more after he sleeps at night.and u don't need US epereince, just get over with ck right now.try to reduce house keeping work,you are wht u feel.

hi guys...i postponed my exam again...but this time i am not having that nice feeling as i use to have when i postpone. This time im feeling down as if i have made a mistake. Its not that i have postponed alot...Although i was 80% done with kaplan qbank with pretty nice scores in timed and mixed mode.i thought its been a long time i had revised UW so i should read that too along with revising FIRSTAID and hence i need more time just 5-6 more days. In the midst of all this, my eligibility period was ending, my exam was suppose to be on 26 feb ...i wanted 5-6 more days i filed for extension yesterday...Did not recieve my New schduling permit yet...and its so hard to get a seat in this city within 7 days time Now all the negative thoughts filling my mind what if i dont get a date till 16 march...will iforget everything?.. Although what i understand now is Step2ck is not that much about memorizing but more about applying what you already know. But as of now, im just mad scared of teh possibilities.I think i messed up big time. Sometimes i seriously think i need professional help and before treating anyone else i should start treating myself..Lets pray that we all get thru this and every other exams of our lives while maintaining our sanity. Now that i said that i needed 5-6 more days...i have already wasted 2 of those by obssessively checking my emails and IWA for the new permit.. God help me...im tired....plz dont waste your time....pick a date, make a realistic plan keeping in mind the responsibilities that you have to fulfill daily, and then meet daily goals and be done with this stupid exam....

Thanks for replying robin. you are right yesterday was a weekend when i applied and today is presidents day holiday. I checked the " print/reprint documents" on IWa, and it shows the old scheduling permit. I guess i'll just have to wait.

Oh Thank God i got the new scheduling permit online and was able to schedule for a new date which is 6th march now. this is exactly the date i was hoping to get and the closet test center from my house.. ..Hopefully i got my lesson and i wont freak out like this in future...

hi guys, i thought it would be a nice idea to type my plan for the last week so that i can stay focussed and on schedule. Exam on 6th march. Yesterday i finished kaplan qbank after which i have decided i wont be doing anymore questions.Yesterday night i started reading CMDT for Alimentary tract leasurely. But the book is so huge its impossible to Read a whole chapter. I wasnt able to finish it today too. While reading CMDT,i realize things that are just mentioned in kaplan notes specially the management and treatment actually have reasoning and logic. Too late though. Had i known this earlier, i would have gone over that book to build basics. Managements and treatments are explained in such an interesting and simple form that you really enjoy reading it. AFter that you can read just firstaid and be good to go. Anyway, now the planning is to go over FA each & every word along with huge additions that i did in FA. After each chapter i will go thru educational objectives in uw book chapter wise. Although i had taken notes frm UW into my FA, my Obssesive nature forces me to go over that book again. Total of ten days left but thank GOD im not that anxious as i used to be. Its mostly because step2 is probably different from step 1 that you dont have to memorize huge list of facts but rather concepts should be clear. well now its time to sleep. from tomorrow i will stick to a schedule with daily goals. sarika, I also found that cmdt is helpful for some management knowledge and how to use drugs.
I already reschedule my date 1 week later for reading through my weak points
Anyway, the best thing you are having now is your confident. Go ahead sarika

In ur journal u have written ur plan for the last week, Just wanted to know, How many hours u will devote for ur FA, and how many hrs for the, Educational objectives, sounds like a good plan, let me know, also wanted to know if u made notes from ur kaplan q-bank. yes usmledoc i added everything that i found new from kaplan qbank to approriate areas in firstaid. I will read a chapter from firstaid and then go thru educational obj. Just now i finished GIT from FA and was going thru UW and ThankGOD i remember most of the questions and more importantly reasoning behind them. I just hope UW hasnt changed much since i bought these books. About # of hrs, cant really say because i dont get to study more than 5 hrs a day (that too late in the night) and sec im kind of getting slow and lazy...e.g although it was a weekend so i had all day but i only did GIT frm FA and UW. well anyway this is it...no more anxiety provoking NBME's or questions for me.
