hi guys, so far i have read that the newer atypical antipsychotics like clozapine ,olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine etc have this unique action -serotonin receptor blocking activity 5HT2 besides their D2 receptor blocking action..weight gain is more likely to be seen with these atypical ones rather than typical neuroleptics-chlorpromazine,thioridazine....i think i have made myself clear ..

YES. that is the missing link and confirmation too. i like HY behav it gives the information in a succint manner. i was just going to 'cram' that info even though i had no evidence for the blockade. thanks drpkaur.

I do not think that antipsychotics and TCAs are histamine receptor blockers. I think they can block at most serotonin, muscarine and dopamine receptors. Please clarify this?
