Hi everybody
I am an IMG from India nw studying for step 1. If I want to join for residency in 2008 what should be the schedule of my exam like? I heard that I have to finish all 3 steps and be ECFMG certified for that. To join for 2008 residency when should I finish all these? What is this so called MATCH? Pls help.

for 2008, finish atleast Step 1 and Step 2 and have scores in ur hand by August 2007 ! it will be good if you can also finish step 2 cs and step 3e by then - but scores are more important than finishing all steps on time...
You will need to be ECFMG certified by the end of Jan 2008 ...and possibly have step 3 scores in hand by Dec - Jan for some programs that sponsor H1

ok so if i plan my tests like in
Oct 2006 step 1
may 2007 step2 ck
july 2007 step 2 cs and then nov 2007 step 3 will it give me enough time to be certified by ecfmg to join in 2008

definitely ! ECFMG certification takes 2 weeks to arrive once the scores of Step1, 2 and CS are reported...

sorry few more queries
i heard that there is a change in cs reporting schedule...... will it affect me badly if I plan my cs in july?
can i apply for ck and cs together or should i wait for the results of ck to apply for cs?
if I take Cs before ck is it going to be particularly difficult as I wont be in good touch with theory of clinical subjects?

2. can i apply for CK and CS together or is it like only after getting Ck results can i apply for Cs?
3. if i take cs before ck will it be particularly difficult as I have not prepared for ck which is theory?

1. it wont ...the July deadline is to take a Date - take the exam itself before Nov.
2. yes u can,,
3. Many people take CS even before Step 1 ! It wont coz troubles :-) g/l

Hi there,Im an IMG from India planning to take part in the 2008 match.Was wondering what would be a favourable score in step1 and step2CK to get into a good residency programme.One more question Do the residency programmes that sponsor H1b look into the scores or do they have other criteria.
