to new_med: you can buy the material from Amazon.com or if you are from Asian subcontinent you can get them from medical bookshops..simple to tomas romero: i have no idea about 2000 kaplan edition...the book i have are kaplan lecture notes ....the course outline you have given is enough to get through the step 1...but i suggest you add q bank for better score gl

hi... i found this post very helpful.....it's posted by P53...i liked it so i put here to make things easy for you colleagues...good luck.... "Don't know about what is the best review for pathology - for example, 'First Aid' constantly gives to the books by Goljan no more than B+, and always gives A+, A or A- to 'BRS Pathology', 2005, 512p. Personally I think that the best pathology review is case-based-MCQ-based 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology', 2004, 432p. by Klatt: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... in my opinion, this way, i.e. doing board-like questions and reading answers, is much more effective form of reviewing than reading review text; again, 'you can't review what you never knew'; the problem here is that 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology' is oriented to 'Robbins Basic Pathology', 2002, 873p.: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... and assumes that you have already read it - but many students think that it's too big and too detailed textbook and are doing 'Robbins Review' in combination with BRS or Goljan instead - the result is that they find many questions to be too difficult in 'Robbins Review'; to address this demand, 'Robbins & Cotran Atlas of Pathology', 512p. by Klatt, a highly illustrated brief review text is going to be released on May 19, 2006: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... about Goljan editions: both 'STARS Pathology', 528p. (a dense text with line drawings and without photos, images and MCQs) and 'STARS Pathology Review', 352p. (a light text with photos, images and 500 MCQs) were released in 1998 and are now out of print (i.e. you can buy them only used). STARS stands for 'Saunders Text And Review Series' - books from this series haven't been updated by Saunders, except for 2 titles - 'Physiology', by Costanzo, 2006, 512p. and 'Pharmacology', by Brenner, 2006, 510p., though they don't bear the word 'STARS' in their titles any more. in 2004 Goljan published 'Rapid Review: Pathology', 480p. - the publisher of the 'Rapid Review' series is 'Mosby', not 'Saunders', and the format is different from 'STARS', so I can't say that it's updated 'STARS Pathology' or 'STARS Pathology Review'; 'Rapid Review: Pathology' contains scarcely illustrated review text accompanied by 100 MCQs in the book and as they claim, 500 MCQs on the CD-ROM - quality of CD-ROM is poor though, as it is for all titles in the 'Rapid Review' series - questions are repeating themselves, scoring system makes errors and it isn't giving explanations for the correctly answered choices. there are also numerous illegal Goljan notes in many different size - can't comment on them. Hello everybody, Thankfully, I just passed my board exams in Australia and were hard i believe. Now, i'm going to take part 1 USMLE and so i'm in that process everyone goes through of which books to study. I'm actually thinking of Not buying the kaplan home study series and just study from other books. I'll buy First Aid, and just read Goljan notes and lectures, other recommended books but not kaplan. What do you think?

Hi Here is my source: Kaplan LN 2005 for physio, pharma, micro/Immuno, bio & beh.sc. High Yield for Neuro, Embryo, Histo and Gross Anatomy (though i think that Kaplan LNs are equally good but not recommended by most people instead HY is mostly talked about) BRS for Beh. Sc. again. Goljan RR and audio for Pathology. MCQs from Qbook, Qbank, Underground clinical vignettes, Kaplan CD, NMS CD . Finally Imaging Atlas CD and ofcourse FA to supplement.
