Hello everyone Hope that things are going great in your personal and professional lives. Well, starting April 1st, I plan to sit down and start studying hard core for Step 3. However, I don't know where to start. Everyone says a different story and I don't know what to do. I would like to know: 1) How long it takes to prepare for this exam? I am not talking about the supernaturals in here who took only 2 weeks to study for the exam. I am talking about a normal med student. 2) What books/resources would you recommend? So, far I have heard of: --------USMLE World --------Kaplan Step 3 Books --------Crush the Boards Step 3 --------Swanson's Family Practice (is this a good book??? Thank you very much for all your help. Appreciate it.

Bela is a precious name, Time: it varies, depends on you, for example if you have clinical experience and made step 2ck a couple of months ago, youīll need a short period of time. Iīd say you could study in 1 - 3 months. Books: you are right. UW, Crush, kaplan for 2 CK. in my opinion, i didnīt like swanson, i bought it and i didnīt read it because i thought it wasnīt worth it for my preparation. itīs very basic. hope this helps

Chemamr, Thank you for you reply. I am so happyyyyy u are over the 3 Steps nightmare. It must truly be a relief. God, will I ever be there? I took Step 2 last september and I must admit since then I didn't do much reading. I guess I was oversaturated with studying and rotations were kinda demanding. So, I think I will need about 3 months to prepare. But I had heard from a friend of mine that she took about 6 months to prepare and she CRUSHED it. That's why I was asking about the time to study. As for the books, are u saying to review Kaplan Step 2 CK instead of Kaplan Step 3? Reason I am asking is b/c I don't have step 3 Kaplan books and I was looking to buy them. But if I don't need them, I won't buy them (still on a pitiful student budget). How about Strong Medicine? I heard some people talk about it. Is it worth spending the money? thnx again!!! -bela p.s. bella=beautiful in italian but some other kid had chosen this nick. Bummer! Left me w/only 1 L.

yes, iīve heard in this forum itīs more advisable to read kaplan notes for 2ck rather than for step 3. i have the idea that strong medicine=crush step 3 which is similar to crush step 2CK. just curious, so are you italian? and woman? right?. what do you mean by CRUSHED (of your friend)? how much did he get?

Bela wrote:Okk, I trust your judgement. I will review my Step 2 notes (which are pretty good, btw). And I won't go crazy buying everything there is out there, but will stick with Step 2 and 3 Crush the Boards (since I already have them). My friend??? To be quite honest with you, I don't know the exact score b/c some people prefer to keep things of this nature to themselves; however, I know she got in the upper 90's. Am I italian? No, I just happened to speak the language. And yes, I am female. How about yourself? Where are you from? Female I assume, right?

Hola senor Tengo un otra pregunta....I just subscribed to UW and there are 88 cases on the software. Are these the only cases that appear on the real exam or these are just for practice? If I know them like the back of my hand, should I be ok for the exam? Muchas gracias!!
