hi friends, i got a prelim position but for a j1 visa.I am worried ....if i dont find a position next year i will run out of status.can anyone tell me wat are the chances of getting a positon next yr vs not getting one .Is it worth taking a risk looking at how difficult it is becoming to get into residency.i got 80 percentile on both steps and am intrested in peds

take it. on j1 u will have no hassles in getting a new visa. one year of usce is a good sign anywhere in the u.s your chances of getting a position next will obviously increase. how you perform in the interview is what counts at the end . obviously with 1 year of prelim you have greater chances of getting more interviews and a better program. alternately you can impress the peds pd and maybe get a prematch in the same hospital all the best
