while reading a new psychiatric journal you find an article on a screening test for depressed patients. The authors have shown that high scores correlate with an increased risk for suicide . Nine months later anther group undertakes a study that demonstrates thatmale patients consistently score higher than do female patients, and that when this is taken into consideration, the increase in suicide rate vanishes.
