Hello everyone I am a newcomer in this forum. I have cleared step 1,2 CK 95/92, will pass CS this year, and ready for matching 2007. I am a IMG from China. I wish to consult you, how important is the transcript (examination scores) in my medical school in China ? because my transcript doesn't look very good (around 3.5-4/5 or 70-80/100). nowadays, I have good USMLE score(95/92), 2-3 american LORs, Ph.D, paper, strong research experiences, GC, no USCE, 12 years since graduation from medical school. I don't know whether my transcript would affect me a lot or not all ? according to my backgroud, will I have any chance to be matched in a IM program (university-based or community-based) ? Thanks in advance to everyone.

considering your status and usmle score plus PHD and research, you should have no problem getting lots of interview and finally end up in a decent program

Dont worry about the transcript score. There will be no problem because of it. You are good to go.

Graduation year is indeed a very important factor. Your medical transcript after so many years is of least importance. Just have a reasonable answer to the question about what was the reason for your scores in the medical school. I mean, not that professors were jerks and did not recognized your talants I think you are well armed for the match, though I would try to do a couple of months of externship to show programs that you did not forget how the patients look like;especially if your research experience are in basic medical science. When you apply, pay attention to the programs requiements: some of them have graduation year bar, some do not. It will save you money. Good luck!
