im confused about the indications for carotid endarterectomy.... one source says its more than 70% occlusion and only if symptomatic and another says good to do for more tthan 60% occlusion in asymptomatic patients also...........?????????

could anyone please tell me the right answer.

PATIENTS WITH SYMPTOMATIC CAROTID STENOSES
>80% stenosis of internal carotid artery CEA indicated
50–79% stenosis of carotid artery but with vascular laboratory data suggesting closer to 79% CEA probably indicated; assess risk factors
50–79% stenosis of carotid artery but with vascular laboratory data suggesting closer to 50% CEA may be indicated; assess risk factors
<50% stenosis of carotid artery Trial of medical therapy
PATIENTS WITH ASYMPTOMATIC CAROTID STENOSES
>80% stenosis of carotid artery CEA indicated
50–79% stenosis of carotid artery but with vascular laboratory data suggesting closer to 79% CEA may be indicated; assess risk factors
