Hello docs I have heard from some IMG's that non english speaking doctors who pass the boards from their countries are advantaged for the match because the major difficulty they overcome is a demostration of their ability to adapte. Other IMG state that living outside the states is a disadvantage. Where is the truth?

different program directors look at profiles from different perspectives and there cant be a single unified asnwer to your questions... being in USA gives additional help like doing observerships, clinical research and US LORS....some PDs may also view an IMG in USA as already being adapted to the environment. but first things first - USMLE scores are still king !!
