I was told that, unless something changes in your CV to better, the outcome will not change next year if one applies to the same programs because there are always new candidates coming in to the game. Unless one screwed up big time during an interview-- credentials are still a big part they are going to judge you upon. The credentials does not change-- nothing will change. There can be situations when next year may be different with the same credentials: if one applied too late, to the more competitive specialties or rated only top programs, or refused a prematch.I doubt that it will be easier next year. The number of applicants grows, the number of the positions declines... Anyway, Good Luck to everybody who did not make it this year. If it was me I would apply next year anyway even against common sense, just for the sake of "maybe"... Lets hope that something will come up to turn things in to your favor!

Well, table 1 for 2000-2006 Match. For IM and FP it is. For Anesthesiology it is not but more US graduates show interest in the field so FMG left with less positions given to them even if there are more positions over all. It is all around few percents but we do not think about it because we do not apply odds directly to us. If I told 100 people in the room that 1% will be dead in one hour if they stay in the room, how many people, do you think, would still be in the room in one hour? I must admit that the thought is not mine but I love the power of it;0)
