Maybe I failed to pick up on this having three sisters and gone through the first two years of medical school...but at what age does a girl begin having her menstrual cycle?! If I am reading a question as I did on NBME Form 3 and it stats a 15 yr old girl has begun breast development but not had a menstrual cycle...is that normal?! I know all bodies vary but is their a cutoff point where you think "Wow! Something is wrong!"

I think we can wait till 16 years of age. But usually it happens around 11-12 years of age.
