1. is a sulphonamide 2. MOA inhibits folic acid synthesis 3. is bacteriostatic 4. is less potent than sulfamethoxazole please give explanations.

2) inhibits folic acid synthesis.Sulfonamides also inhibit folic acid synthesis but they inhibit dihydropteroate syhthase where the trimetoprium inhbit dihydrofolate reductase.

answer is 3. trimethoprim is not a sulphonamide, its MOA is inhibition of folate reduction, it is 20 -50x more potent than sulfamethoxazole
