A 6-year-old child is brought to the emergency department after all during a soccer game. His left arm was injured and painful. There is swelling above the wrist but no discoloration or dislocation. Pulse is 115/min and blood pressure is 110/75 mm Hg. X-ray shows buckling of the cortex on both sides of the distal radius and ulna. Based on available controlled evidence, what health care plan policy could lead to eh biggest improvement in the health status of this patients? A. Easy access to CT scan for evaluating fractures B. Mandatory second opinion before orthopedic interventions C. Reminder on the encounter form to update immunization D. Physical profiling and continuing medical education E. Authorization before hospital admission Answer is C,why? Thank you!

yes probably possible vit D and Ca def. children do not usually fracture the distal radius. they more likely have radial/ulna shaft fracture or supracondylar from falls. but in vit D and Ca deff they may suffer 'pathol' fractures.

immunizations help in reducing the morbidity and mortality due to infectious diseases. lots of patients suffer because of these preventable diseases. thus it'll be a big improvement with a simple intervention-immunization.

this is what i think. pls correct us if we are not thinking right.
