Hi guys,
I am an italian cardiologist, in the States (Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota) for a research period in Cardiovascular Diseases. After a while, I have decided to study for the steps.
I am starting the preparation for the Step 1, in order to try the examination in July. In your opinion, is it doable ?
I thought to start studying with First AID questions, supported in the different subjects with the High field and Lange textbooks. Regarding Pathology I have the Goljan lectures (MP3 and papers) but I can get the Robbins review easily.
When I will be done with the First AID I thought to the Kaplan and NBME questions on-line.
Do you think this program is reasonable or I should change something ? Reviewing the different threads here, I have figured out that the most difficult subjects should be Neuroanathomy and Pathology (though there a great variability in the different exam sessions).
is that correct ? what I should focus on during the study ? Please tell me all the tips, tricks (prays ?) you know to succeed in this huge project !
I will keep reading the different threads here, helping on what I will learn.

P.S: if someone here in Mayo has the same project, I would really like to meet him/her to exchange ideas and books but also to program some workgroup sessions.

Yes it is doable .. First take Kaplan books plus first aid 2006 .... and for MCQs take Q bank, Q book and BSS . U can do it .... I am having my exam after one and a half month .....

Regarding the Kaplan Books, do you mean the 4 Volumes ? They are really expensive :-(
No alternatives mmhh ??

Yes , if you buy the 4 volumes Kaplan lecture notes from their site it is very expensive, but you can buy them at a reasonable price through ebay. just go to ebay and enter " usmle kaplan "in the search panel,check out the site,you wont be dissapointed
