Q/The consumption of oxygen by the kidney
A/decreases as the blood flow increases.
B/is regulated by erythropoietin.
C/remains constantas blood flow increases.
D/directly reflects thelevel of the sodium transport
E/is greatest in the medulla.

D?

I just guess because Sodium transport in ascending loop needs ATP and O2

Are you sure that sodium transport need ATP?

  #4

I think it is C. The kidney is the most over perfused organ in the body and so even if the blood flow increases the oxygen consumption should still stay the same. Please let me know if I am completely wrong...

  #5

chazan I dont know whether you are wrong..but I am taking guess and I am also opting for C

  #6

d

because na reabsorbtion is the main metabolic process in the kidney,so the greater na the greater the o2 consumption.and since filtrate load of na is GFR*PLASMA CONCENTRATION, then ,yes, the o2 consumption is directly related to the na reabsorbed.

Renal vasculature shows Autoregulation. I think its C

  #8

ans is D nod

  #9

I was thinking abt. E but E is not quite correct (max O2 consumption is in OUTER medulla where max O2 is consumed during active Na absorption).

So the correct answer is D.
