why do we have increased HCO3 reabsorption as a result of volume contraction??

  #2

When volume contraction occurs, there is an increase in the reabsorption of water and electrolytes in the proximal tubules and therefore reabsorption of HCO3 increases.

but some people believe that angiotensin II causes this increased reabsorption?

  #4

yes in volume contraction renin angiotensin aldosterone system is activated and aldoterone reabsorbs sodium with water and angiotensin constricts the efferent arteriole of the nephron and reduces capillary hydrostatic pressure in the peritubular capillaries which is normally the opposing force for reabsorption and so everything reabsorbed. along with what robin said.
pls correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.

i think its because of aldosterone which is increased in volume dpletion states.

aldosterone causes increased Na reabsorption and K loss...along with it H+ is also lost...for every H+ lost one HCO3 is reabsorbed....

pls correct me if im wrong
