hard to say...ARDS seems more likely with bilateral infiltrates. What is significance of 'second' post-op day here? Can't either of the two develop on the second day?

Pneumonia could also have bilateral pulmonary infiltrates on CXR and it usually follows unresolved atelectasis around the 3rd post op day. Then again..it might as well be ARDS....which could be secondary to pneumonia. Some warranted confusion here.Sobia, did you come across what it could be?

True. I don't think the question can be answered with the information available. How come your name is in green cyra, when everyone else's is in blue ?

sobia you are right & let me add some more points ARDS has rapid onset of profound dyspnea . Labored breathing, tachypnea, intercostal retractions, and crackles . I think dyspnea will be gradual & milder in pneumonia.
