What are activated T Cells?

  #2

ok i'll try it:
if a T cell recognizes an antigen presented by an APC (because the TCR is exactly matching) it becomes an activated T-Cell. it then produces certain cytokines (IL3,4,5) and stimulates autocrine and paracrine (Bcells, eosinophils in allergic reaction). activated t-cell expresses CD40ligand which recognizes CD40 on B-cells
(this is how B-cells are stimulated to produce IgE)
using FACS you can sort out the activated Tcells from a suspension.
sorry if this is only more confusing instead of clarifying anything. confused

helpful, thanks.

basically activated t cell is an ACTIVE T Cell. grin
T cells get activated by antigen presenting cells and than practically control the whole immune response. secreate various cytokines and recruit other leucocytes. i hope its not too simplified.smiling face
