Sharvil, thank you for your post. i just read it & i only wished i got this before i took the exam earlier this yrsad i failed but i am studying again. even if i do get a 99 this time around...how does this affect my placement in residency, etc/ thank u

  #208

Also, i forgot i do have another question..i have a habit of writing down questions and explanations that i got wrong but its really time consuming & i haven't been taking my own notes from studying material. what do you suggest if you have any? thanks again so muchsmiling face

  #209

thanks paige,
to be honest with you, having a failed attempt on your cv will definitely create a negative impact on your cv, but that should force you to do really well on your second attempt so that you can overcome that.
i dont think you should be writing down entire questions and answers, that is really cumbersome. you can write down some points down from the explanation and maintain a notebook/diary so that it is easy for you in the future. i dont know if u shud be takin your own notes from the study materials, because they the study material itself is pretty condensed. but again it depends on your style of studying.
good luck

dear sharvil ...im confused about the way by which i have to memorize some facts...for instance: when it comes to memorize things like gram + gram- ..catalase + catalase-...coagulase+ and -...dominant vs recessive ...etc .....
my q is : should i write down these things on a table and memorize them or it is better to study them randomly ??
thanks in advance

  #211

hi abummeis,
everyone has a different style of learning, use whatever works for you, write them down in a table so that it is easy for you to retrieve them when necessary. and you can revise them again and u shud be able to remember them.

Hey sharvil,

I read your post a while back, and just came across it again now 12 days before my exam.. I must say, i'm re-inspired grin I have just one question for you.. I've done UW twice and i'm now just revising all my incorrect questions.. My 2nd reading of first aid will be done in the next 2 days, right before i take an nbme.. However, i was wondering what is the best strategy for those last 8-10 days? I was thinking that i could revise FA again one more time, or just do 200 usmleRX questions every day, and get about 1600-2000 questions in within that last week and a half.. I feel doing plenty of questions will routine my brain to answering quickly, and i don't know how much i will benefit from one more revision of FA.. but then again, maybe i will.. sorry for the long post..what do you suggest?

thanks persevere,
well u seem like u have prepared well for the exam, i dont know if u shud be solving so many questions in ur last week, u have already done a lot of questions, now it would make sense to consolidate your knowledge base, read FA and whatever notes u made during your studies,
good luck
