I'm still figuring out the usmle. Please help me do it.

I will complete my internship in mid-2007, after which I intend taking 2CK. Some folks say taking Step 1 first is always better...so I've started to question my decision.

Is it possible for an IMG to take Step 1 during the internship?

I want to space out the steps (that I begin taking in mid-2007) in a way that will allow me to get into a residency (the heavens willing) by 2008. How should I do it?

Plus, two things that I just can't seem to figure out: What is MATCH and what on earth is SCRAMBLE?

Thank you.

u can take step 2 before step 1 ..no prbs...jst that step 1 studies will be fresher in mind if you are still in med-school

when you apply to programs thru ERAS - on the 'match' day you will know if you got a position - called match coz ..the preferences you give should link up the programs preferences for candidates where you interview..to get a position.

if you dont get a 'match' you try to call up programs yourself with empty seats for 2 days after that - thats the scramble ( explained at pmscramble.blogspot.com)

Also, Frontal - you can do a search with your "key" words and see tons of answers that are already on the boards.

Good luck!
