Hi, I am preparing in the following manner: With the patient in the lying position:Inspection of the Hip Joint(both sides-compare) ,Palpation of Hip jt-iliac crest and the greater trochanter(starting with the non tender side and then to the tender side/say sorry when the patient vinces with pain) Movements:active(where patient moves it on his own)-ask them to bring the knee towards the hip(1st nontender side and then the tender side) passive-includes flexion, internal rotation, external rotation, adduction and abduction) Neurovascular exam:distally(strength, reflexes and sensation) and peripheral pulses. Ask patient to stand/See the level of both hip joint and then ask them to hold the edge of table to check extension.. As someone pointed out the rest of the regular exam should follow I hope what I have posted is right..If there are any errors please let me know... Regards
